HEALTH CARE DIRECTIVES

Health Care Directives in Bellevue

What is a Health Care Directive?

A Health Care Directive, also known as a Directive to Physicians or a Living Will, is a document that expresses your intent not to continue to receive artificial life support if you are in a terminal condition as determined by your regular attending physician, and the application of life sustaining procedures at the care facility will unnaturally extend your life. This decision is one of the most important decisions that you will ever make.

If you execute a Health Care Directive, you can also execute a Power of Attorney for Health Care Decisions that will allow someone to carry out your wish to not continue to use artificial life support because you will not be in a condition to convey your intent to the care facility. William Buchanan can help you decide if you should execute this important document.
